SOBRE ESTE CURSO
This course contains tools to develop and strengthen contingency plans for customs and border agencies in the event of natural or provoked disasters. It also reviews the main responsibilities of the actors involved in emergency response, from a proactive, preventive and coordinated approach. In addition, international conventions and agreements for border management are addressed, which may favor the consolidation of a national legal framework, with the purpose of avoiding disruptions and interruptions in the flow of goods and people entering and leaving the country, and speeding up humanitarian aid operations.

This program is aimed at public and private sector officials and international organizations working on issues related to customs, border agencies, humanitarian aid, among others.

ESTRUCTURA DEL CURSO
In this module:
1. You will recognize the impact of a disaster on customs and border management in order to be prepared to effectively deal with a natural disaster, catastrophe or emergency.
2. Understand the effects and the negative impact of not having a contingency plan to provide continuity to border operations and the negative impact on supply chains to deal with the emergency and trade in general.
3. Identify the actors involved, as well as the importance of a proactive and efficient coordination among them during a natural disaster, catastrophe or emergency.
In this module:
1. You will learn about the international and regional tools and instruments that facilitate international humanitarian assistance operations.
2. You will identify the key national components that contribute to an efficient and effective response.
3. Identify the importance of having national legislation to facilitate the coordination of actors in emergency response.
4. Reflect on the importance of carrying out a self-assessment to strengthen the legal framework.
In this module:
1. You will understand the role and relationships of all the actors involved in the supply chain both nationally, regionally and internationally when dealing with a disaster or health emergency.
2. You will learn about the leadership of the customs administration and the support mechanisms that will be put in place with other agencies and government entities in close cooperation with the humanitarian community.
3. Recognize the need to provide for prioritized treatment of critical goods in the event of an emergency, and ensure a rapid return to normal management of the flow of goods.
In this module:
1. You will identify the need for improvements in communication and information generation before, during and after the emergency.
2. Relate the importance of digitization and automation as mechanisms to increase the efficiency of the supply chain.
3. Explain the importance of evaluation before and after emergencies and disasters for continuous improvement in response mechanisms and procedures.

La ventaja de un curso en línea es que se puede asistir a clase desde cualquier lugar y sin tener que mantener un horario estricto. Esto facilita la participación de estudiantes y profesores de diversos orígenes. Nuestra intención con estos cursos es enriquecer el proceso de transculturación con un enfoque global.
Para completar las lecturas y actividades individuales calculamos que se necesitan de 10 a 12 horas semanales (en cualquier horario a cualquier día) antes del cierre de la semana que por lo general son los lunes a las 24 hrs del aula. Tenga presente que algunos cursos tienen actividades grupales por lo que será necesario trabajar en ellas considerando el tiempo de sus compañeros de equipo.
El curso igualmente cuenta con un cuestionario de capacidades previas y posteriores. El resultado de dichas evaluaciones no afecta la nota final del curso.
En el aula virtual encontrará toda la información necesaria correspondiente, como: materiales didácticos, actividades y tareas, foros de discusión, exámenes y otros documentos y herramientas de interés.
El aula virtual está dotada de diversas herramientas de comunicación para compartir ideas e información, y realizar preguntas. Entre estas herramientas, se destacan: foros, y mediante el centro de ayuda de INDES-HELP.
Una vez los participantes completen y superen su curso en línea, podrán obtener una certificación y/o una insignia digital siguiendo los criterios particulares de cada curso autoguiado. Si un participante tiene que retirarse de un curso por circunstancias fuera de su control, el INDES aplicará las siguientes condiciones:
- Cursos virtuales: No se otorgarán reembolsos.
- Política de Transferencia/crédito para participantes: Si por algún motivo especial un(a) participante pide ser transferido(a) a la próxima edición del curso por circunstancias fuera de su control (ej. razones de salud, problemas familiares), el/la coordinador(a) del curso tomará la decisión de si el/la participante puede ser transferido(a). Es importante notar que la transferencia de participantes se reserva exclusivamente para personas que están pasando por situaciones inesperadas que impiden su participación en el curso. Este privilegio puede ser utilizado sólo una vez. Dependiendo del curso, una diferencia en el costo de la futura edición a la cual el/la participante ha sido transferido(a) puede aplicar. Sólo el coordinador del curso podrá ofrecer dicha transferencia la cual tendrá que ser aplicada en el plazo de un año.
Los roles que participarán en cada curso de INDES Online son los siguientes:

- Los participantes deberán remitir sus quejas al Coordinador del curso para su consideración
- Los coordinadores del curso abordarán las quejas dentro de un período de 48 horas
