What is an instructor-led online course?
The online instructor-led courses are offered in a personalized mode with a limited number of participants per class. Start and finish dates are clearly marked. Besides the online tools used for interaction in the virtual environment, courses provide students with continuous support from a technical assistant, the tutor and a program coordinator, who are experts in the course topics, and are able to offer effective feedback in all course activities and promote relevant discussion.

Geared towards teams composed of members from project executing agencies funded by the IDB. For individuals or project teams external to the IDB, you can find information about our affiliated companies and their contact details (Education Providers) below. The program is aimed at project teams, and therefore, registration should be done as teams, not individually. The Leadership in Project Management training course is offered as part of the Project Management for Results (PM4R) initiative by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). This initiative is focused on enhancing the competencies of project teams consisting of members from executing agencies, IDB staff, and liaison body members.
Throughout this course, a process of reflection, learning, and practice will be proposed to strengthen the interpersonal skills necessary to effectively address the communication, negotiation, and leadership challenges that participants encounter in each stage of managing a development project.
The course objectives are:
- Improve the implementation of the Project Plan (PEP/POA) for different teams executing development projects by strengthening their knowledge and developing their interpersonal skills to address the communication, negotiation, and leadership challenges in the management of development projects.
- Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to: Develop a communication strategy, taking into account the characteristics of key actors and the project's context; Prepare and conduct negotiations rationally and effectively; and Communicate for the effective exercise of influence in the implementation of the project plan.
