PM4R Leadership
The online instructor-led courses are offered in a personalized mode with no more than 30 students in each class. Start and finish dates are clearly marked. Besides the online tools used for interaction in the virtual environment, courses provide students with continuous support from a technical assistant, the tutor and a program coordinator, who are experts in the course topics, and are able to offer effective feedback in all course activities and promote relevant discussion.
The Leadership in Managing Development Projects course has been designed and organized by the Inter-American Institute for Economic and Social Development
(INDES). It is offered as part of the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) Project Management for Results (PM4R) initiative, which seeks to improve the skills of project
teams comprising members of executing agencies, IBD staff and people from liaison bodies.
This course is designed to be used as a process for reflecting, learning and practicing in order to strengthen the interpersonal skills needed to effectively address the communication, negotiation and leadership challenges which participants face throughout every stage of managing a development project.
The course begins with an in-person introductory workshop and then continues with 7 weeks of virtual classes making up 2 learning modules. These are structured into units, the contents of which are reinforced with a series of mandatory individual and group activities which participants undertake under the guidance of a tutor. Once the virtual phase is complete, each team must prepare a group task, which they present when they attend the final workshop.
