ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
The Long-Term Care Policy Network in Latin America and the Caribbean (RedCUIDAR+) was created in 2020 to support the efforts of the countries of the region and increase their institutional and technical capacity in the area of long-term care for the elderly in care-dependent situations. This initiative is supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the European Union's Program EUROsociAL+ and the French Development Agency (AFD).
The Government of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay hosted the tenth meeting of the RedCUIDAR+ , which addresses the topic Sustainability and financing of long-term care systems: needs, practices and lessons learned.
The countries of Latin America and the Caribbean have been showing genuine interest in the development of long-term care policies, placing the issue on the region's public agenda. However, the implementation of such policies presents important challenges. These include estimating the cost of services and defining the sources of financing that will ensure their viability and financial sustainability. In the framework of its tenth meeting, the RedCUIDAR+ proposes a reflection on these challenges. The objective is to exchange experiences, best practices and lessons learned among participants.
